Grace A. (Tanner) Day was taken by her angels to be with heavenly father on January 2, 2011, under the loving care of Boundary County Nursing Wing and with her family at her side. A Celebration 0f Graces life will be held at her First Baptist Church at 6711 El Paso St. in Bonners Ferry at 1:00pm, Saturday, January 8, 2011. She was born in Spokane Washington on June 26, 1922 to Carl and Elsie Schwiger and had one sister, May. They grew up in Rose Lake, Idaho. It was love at first sight when she met and later married Francis Tanner on November 20, 1939 after Francis finished his obligation to the Army. They made their home in Dalton Gardens, Idaho where they raised their 5 children. Grace was devoted to and loved being a Cub Scout leader, Campfire Girls Leader and on the P.T.A. Board. Their home was always full of neighborhood children, laughter, music and love. Grace also enjoyed many years of cooking at various logging camps where Francis worked. Francis died suddenly in December of 1972. Grace they moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho where she later met and married Lester (Bud) Day. They worked together for many years at the Senior Hospitality Center of Bonners Ferry where Grace was a nutrionist. She always loved to play “Peppy” music and dance, but her greatest joys in life were her family and friends. She was passionate about camping, baking and cooing “Huge” family dinners. She loved her ducks and tweety bird. She was preceded in death by her son Terry in 1978. She is survived by her sons Clyde (Arlis) Tanner, Roger (Kathy) Tanner, Marvin (Cyndi) Tanner and daughter Mary Ann Dinning and daughter-in-law Bonnie Tanner, 15 grandchildren 34 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. The family suggest memorials be made to Hospice.
