Friends and acquaintances, old and new, will want to know that Rebecca lost a short, but fierce, battle with pneumonia, that turned out to be cancer, early January 13. Rebecca was born to Harry Ross Keller and Constance Olivia Robinson Keller (later Hollenbeck) on March 18, 1943. Rebecca was a lifetime resident of Boundary County. She is the youngest sister of two brothers, Clint and Kenneth, and a sister Margaret. Rebecca married Cleve Shearer on Labor Day weekend 1966, and is survived by her husband Cleve, and her brothers Clint in Coeur D’Alene and Kenneth in Quito, Ecuador. She is also survived by three daughters Gabrielle, Tracy, and Leila; three grandchildren Emma, Max, and Nadia Brainerd; and many nieces and nephews. Rebecca loved the place she had lived on since she was ten years old, in the Cow Creek district, and its wildlife. She was an avid birder. Rebecca was an omnivorous reader and followed closely current events from the local to the international. She was fond of her cats and gardening. Rebecca was a shy person, and sort of hard to get to know. Those that did appreciated her intelligence and ready humor. Friends found her a truly good person, kind, generous, and absolutely honest. She had a strong sense of what was just and fair, as some learned to their chagrin. A memorial gathering of family and friends is planned on Rebecca’s birthday, March 18.
