Myra L. "Babe" Troyer

Myra “Babe” Troyer (91) passed away on June 11, 2011 at the Boundary County Nursing Home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Graveside Services were held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 1:00pm in the Paradise Valley Cemetery, Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Myra “Babe” was born on December 5, 1919 in Colome, SD to George and Emma Patterson. She moved to Bonners Ferry with her parents and some of her siblings in 1936. In 1939 she married William Troyer in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. William died in 1965. Babe moved back to Bonners ferry and worked in the office at Moyie River Lumber Co. until 1968 when she married Edgar Troyer and moved to South Bend, WA. Edgar died in 1976. Babe worked at a seafood cannery as a payroll clerk until her retirement in 1985. Again she came back to Bonners Ferry, this time to stay. She enjoyed bowling and bowled in the women’s Tuesday morning league until a few months before her death. She looked forward to her Bible study group on Tuesday afternoons and her Sunday School Class both at the Baptist Church. Babe is preceded in death by her parents seven half brothers and sisters, two brothers, three sisters and two siblings who died in infancy. She is survived by her daughter; Barbara Jo and son-in-law Floyd Johnson; three grandchildren Valen and wife Pam who live in Huston, TX; Robin of Tampa, FL; and Cindy and husband Scott Griggs of Clinton, IA; five great-grandchildren, Also surviving her is her sister Betty and brother-in-law Merrill Marcy of Bonners Ferry, ID; along with many nieces and nephews. Several of those who preceded her in death were residents of Bonners Ferry to include sisters Naomi Shurtlieff, Etta Byrne and Cora Sinclair, brother Oscar Patterson and nieces Ruth Mohn and Dorothy Unruh. Among her survivors are several who reside in Bonners Ferry or the Coeur d’Alene area besides Berry and Merrill Marcy. They are Glen Patterson and his wife Beulah, nephew-in-law Delmer Unruh and grandnephew Mickey Taylor, nieces Marla Mayer, Midge Brennan and Donna Stippich and nephew Dale Marcy. They were all actively involved in her life. Babe was a firm believer in higher education and generously supported her grandchildren in their college efforts.
