Carol Jean Phillips

Carol Jean Phillips (71) passed away at her Naples, Idaho area home on June 29, 2011. Services will be held on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 5:00pm at the Mountain Springs Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. On Wednesday morning June 29, 2011, Carol Jean (Williams) Phillips of Naples, Idaho passed away at the young age of 71 years. She is survived by her loving husband Richard W. Phillips, her loving children Phillip, Jenny, Holly (Belinda), Joseph, Stephen and Christopher and 14 grandchildren and 14+ great grandchildren. Carol was born November 20, 1939 in Marshfield, MA to Janet M. (Harrison) Williams and Oswald B. Williams. Carol graduated from Marshfield, MA High School in 1958. Being a former Navy spouse, Carol lived in many different states; but wherever she was she made that her home and gained many lifelong friends. Most recently she and her husband Richard had lived in Cincinnati, Ohio; Wheatland, Missouri and have made Naples, Idaho their permanent home for the past 8 years. In the 1960’s Carol and Richard knew each other within a group of friends, she and he each having a different “significant other”; at the time… Time went by and the friends went their separate ways. She and he each married another. 29 years later those marriages were no longer. They met again… and it was “Neat”. They were again fast friends and were married on July 21, 1990; they enjoyed 21 years of life together while participating in many different activities. Such as visiting family and friends, exploring the wilderness, traveling, bowling, reading; just to list a few. Carol had a passion for many things, the first of which were her strong faith in God and her desire to know Him better; and her love for her family and friends. She was easily loved by so many people throughout her life. She had an outgoing and friendly personality and laughs and smiles which were contagious to us all. She would easily and willingly speak a kind word or make and send a card to cheer or lift you up. Whatever the situation she was straightforward and would tell you her thoughts from her heart. She was a blessing to so many of us. Her love for animals; great and small was obvious from the beginning. Her further interests included making beautiful intricate quilts which she gave to many as an; I love you or a thank you or just because she cared. She would knit hats and socks for people in need. She loved to sew; and crafting of all kinds rounded out her days. She also enjoyed canning the fruits and vegetables that she and her husband Richard grew in their garden. Carol was an enthusiastic bowler. She had been a team member in bowling leagues throughout the years including the Missouri Women’s Bowling Assoc., and more recently the USBC Women’s League here in Naples, Idaho. She was amazingly strong to the end by the Grace of God. Her family and friends will dearly miss her as she now rests peacefully with her Savior, Jesus Christ or Lord.
