Charles Howard (Charlie) Garrett (62) passed away on October 29, 2011 after a long battle with lung disease. Services were held on Saturday November 5, 2011 at 11:30 at the Mt Hall Community Church North of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Charlie was born in Buchanan, WV on August 5, 1948 to Robert and Delores Garrett. He attended schools in WV, Albuquerque, NM and Soap Lake Washington. He enlisted in the US Army on May 3, 1968. He served as a radio operator in Germany and Vietnam until his discharge in 1971 when he returned home to Soap Lake, Washington and attended Spokane Falls Community College. It was there that he met Dale Horning and they had 3 children and they were later divorced in 1992. Charles life work was as a heavy equipment mechanic. He worked for Rowland and Western States in Spokane and Sims Implement (John Deere) and Quality Farm and Garden in Bonners ferry, Idaho. Ill health compelled him to retire from the work force but not from living. Charlie or Howard as family members called him remarried August 3, 1996 to Kathleen (Kathy) Stevens and made a home in Moyie Springs, Idaho where he continued to enjoy the gifts of living in North Idaho, his Children and those of his wife (all total 8) and friends. Charles legacy as a man is that he was a true friend. He was always there with a ready smile and a helping hand. His sense of humor and creative mind will be missed by all who knew him. Charlie is preceded in death by: his father Robert Garrett; Uncle Charles Howard Garrett; grandparents Guy and Ruth Garrett and Aunt Ruth Kessler. Survivors include his wife Kathy Garrett, mother Delores Garrett and children Charliene, William and Katie; step children Elise, Patrick, Christopher, Jennifer, Heather Michelle and Heidi. His brothers Robert and Tom and sister Charlotte Ball, Step mothers Rosella and Belinda and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
