Ruth Nellie (Wesselman) Smith was born to William and Wilhemina Wesselman on December 31st 1920 in Sandpoint, Id and passed away on November 7th 2011 in Bonners Ferry, Id at the extended Care Facility.Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 10:00am in at the Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho with interment following in the McArthur Cemetery near Naples, Idaho. Ruth married Clyde Smith on June 9 1939 in Sandpoint, Id. Clyde preceded her in death in 2007. Ruth and Clyde had four children: Douglas Smith and wife Sharon, Thomas Smith who preceded her in death in 1998, Earl Smith and wife Connie and Alice Coffey and husband Pat and daughter-in-law Shirley. Ruth had 17 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and 2 more on the way. Wow Grandma! Ruth resided in Boundary County for about 67 years. She and Clyde had a farm, west of Bonners Ferry on the Westside, where they raised their family until they moved to Naples in 1957. They bought a place near McArthur Lake where they finished raising their family. They lived there until 2005. Ruth was a friend to everyone especially her children and grandchildren. Her Love was unconditional and she was always a great example to all. She was a humble little lady that used to clean homes and scrub floors, she never demanded much. All though you might not know, she had many talents. She enjoyed crocheting doilies, canning, and gardening and was an excellent cook, especially her lemon meringue pie and potato soup. She enjoyed helping Clyde with his horses and was always faithful at doing her part of the Cancer Drive every year. While they lived on the Westside, she used to write an article for the Bonners Ferry Herald. I think it was called the “Westside Notes” or some thing like that. She was actually a very good reporter. Ruth Loved and appreciated all those who took such good care of her at ECF and thought very highly of Dr Botkins and was grateful for his care and concern. She was truly a remarkable Lady and all of us will greatly Miss Her. Family and friends are invited to sign Ruth’s book at www.bonnersferryfuneralhome.com Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Bonners Ferry Funeral Home.
