Ruth M Loughery, 89, passed away at her Naples area home on December 31, 2011. She was loved and a true inspiration to us all. Ruth was born May 15, 1922 in Spencerville, Ohio to Albert and Bertha Lauer. She received her early education at Jordan High School in Long Beach, California where she excelled in singles and doubles tennis and was active in the booster club and student government activities. On October 15, 1941 she married William (Bill) Loughery in Long Beach, Ca. They resided there where they raised their family of 2 sons. She worked as an L.V.N. nurse after their kids began school. They were active in A.A., hosting home family meetings for 18 years, supporting her husbands 45 years of sobriety. She also enjoyed fishing and camping with her family, but most of all she loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. Bill and Ruth moved to Naples in 1971 where she worked for several years as a nurse for Dr. Rust in Sandpoint. She was also active in Helping Hands of Naples, Cancer Support Group of Bonners Ferry and the Free Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her love of life, compassion for family and friends, her great sense of humor and spoiling her loved ones with her one of a kind grandma cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2005, her son Danny in 1994, as well as her parents and four brothers. Survivors include her son Michael Loughery and wife Dianna, of San Ramon, Ca; daughter-in-law Thea Loughery of Spokane Valley, Wash; grandchildren Patrick Loughery and wife Shannon, North Bend, Wash; Kyle Loughery and wife Jenny, Cheney, Wash; Bryce Loughery and wife Cheryl, Danville, Ca; Kim Macdonald and husband Travis, Danville, Ca; Missy Wells and husband Charlie, Green Acres, Wash; and great grandchildren Keenan, Riley, Kaileigh, Taylor, Jack, Kristopher, Ruby, Reena, Broghan, Colton, Kate, and Madison as well as the many close friends she has in the Bonners Ferry area.
