Bill Drake, 76, of Bonners Ferry, passed away peacefully at the Boundary County Hospital late Friday, Sept 14, 2007 of heart and lung complications.
Born Willis Drake on Sept 9, 1931, in Williston North Dakota, Bill was one of nine children born to Frank and Marie Drake. The Drake family moved from Charboneau North Dakota to Bonners Ferry and Bill's siblings in order of birth include Darwood, Sydney, Vern, Forrest, Harvey, Irene, (Bill), Herman and Agnes.
Educated in Bonners Ferry, Bill worked and enjoyed the woods from an early age. An avid outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing around Smith Creek, Bog Creek, Queen Mountain and Meadow Creek to name just a few. He was a stubborn bur, always good-hearted, and always ready to help those in need. Bill would give you his opinion whether you wanted it or not, and had a colorful language all his own.
Bill is survived by: his two sisters, Irene and Agnes; two brothers, Vern and Forrest plus numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his good friends Loyal and Kay, Roy and Ronda, Jill, Ilona, Richard, Dennis and many more that touched his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Bonners Ferry Food Bank.
A Celebration and Potluck of Bill's Life will be held Saturday, Sept 22nd, 2:oopm at Bill's house at 6832 Augusta St, Bonners Ferry.
