Betty Ruth Winey, (75) went to be with the Lord September 26, 2007 while surrounded by her loving family members in the comfort of her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 10:00am at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho with internment following in the Grandview Cemetery.
Mom was born October 10, 1931 in Newport, Washington to Harold and Elizabeth Sams. Mom attended grade school in Twin Lakes, Idaho and high school in Rathdrum, Idaho.
In 1948 she met Francis Winey (Dad) the love of her life at a dance. They were married October 22, 1949 in Post Falls, Idaho. They started their life together in Post Falls, Idaho and 4 of their children were born there. From Post Falls they moved to Oracle, Arizona where a fifth child was born.
Longing for the beautiful mountains they returned to North Idaho and settled in Bonners Ferry in 1967. Mom was an intrigal part of several family businesses. Although mom was always very busy she found time to do the things she loved; reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, building fish ponds and traveling.
We always knew that she loved us unconditionally. She was always there for us. Mom was very generous and always gave to those in need.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers.
Betty is survived by her loving husband Francis Winey; son, David Winey; son, Steve Winey and wife Sue; daughter, Linda Heltion and husband John; son, Tom Winey and wife Denise, daughter Lisa Murphy and her husband Pat; brothers, Jim Sams, Wayne Sams and sister Carol Anglen, grandchildren Robert Winey and wife Sabrina, Christa Eby and husband Corey, Kenny Winey, Mike Guthrie, Rhett Winey and wife Tausha, Beau Winey, Jon Winey, Tiffany Winey, Jenelle Winey, Kara Winey, Amber Olson, Trevor Winey, Kari Olson, Brittany Winey, Hayley Olson, Tara Winey, step-grandchildren Doug Murphy, Mike Murphy, Travis Murphy, Randy Murphy, Mindy Baronie, Carrie Smith, and Richard Heltion, and several great-grandchildren .
