Ellen Bernice Allenberg, (73) passed away at Avalon Care Center in Spokane, Washington on December 13, 2007. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 2:00 pm at the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho with internment in the Grandview Cemetery. Ellen was born on April 12, 1934 in Asotin, Washington to Roy and Camelia (McNeil) Johnson. She was raised on the family ranch in Cloverland, Washington and had many fond memories of their life there. The family later moved to Newport, Washington where she met and married Charles Edward Glen in 1951. During the late 1970’s she worked at LP Mill for several years at Moyie Springs, Idaho. Charles preceded her in death in 1976. In 1983 she married Harold O. Allenberg. She worked for several years as a cook at the Community Hospital in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Harold preceded her in death in 1991. Ellen later moved to Spokane. Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening and kept a wonderful garden and pond at her S. Park home. She also enjoyed embroidering and was an avid reader. Ellen will be remembered for her keen wit and sense of humor, and for her love of animals. Survivors include her Children: Steve Glen and fiancé Kelly Lynx of Kapolei, HI; Dave Glen of Vallejo, CA; Janet Glen and husband Tom Wilson of Spokane, WA; Gladys Glen Ackerman of Lewiston, ID; Harold Allenberg, Jr. of Moyie Springs, ID; Steve Allenberg and wife Zetta of Spokane, WA; Ken Allenberg of Yreka, CA; Don Allenberg and wife Sharon of Bonners Ferry, ID; Helen Dennison of Bonners Ferry, ID; brother Edward Johnson and wife Rosa Lea; sisters; Pat Henderson and husband Dave; Beverly Green; along with 25 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. In keeping with Ellen’s wishes; in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Spokane Humane Society, 6607 N Havana, Spokane, WA 99217.
