Richard T. Brown

Richard T Brown passed away at his home in Sagle, ID on Thursday February 14, 2008. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 11:00am atthe Trinity Lutheran Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho with internment following in the Grandview Cemetery. Military Rites provided by the American Legion Post #55. Richard was born September 2, 1925 in Dunn County, ND. He was the middle child of 5 children. He served in the Air Force and had a medical discharge due to a back injury in 1946. He married Eleanor Chorne on August 3, 1950. In the fall of 1951, they moved to St Maries, ID where Richard farmed and did some logging. They had 3 children, Elaine, Sharon & Wayne. In 1956 they moved to Union, OR where they ran a motel. In 1958 the family moved back to Bismarck, ND where he started a business called Bismarck-Mandan Implement, Inc, selling and servicing Case and Allis Chalmers farm equipment. In 1964 Richard and Eleanor decided city life was not what they wanted and bought a ranch in Bonners Ferry, ID raising cattle. Richard also went to work for the Boundary County Road and Bridge department as a mechanic and later became Road Foreman. Richard worked hard all his life, and was a true optimist, a strong role model, a true friend to family and friends. Due to health problems he retired in 1975. They bought a motor home and did a lot of traveling. When Eleanor passed away in 1983, Richard was very lonely. About 5 years later, he met a very nice lady, Dorothy, in California and she became Richard's companion. Richard traveled over a million miles, from halibut fishing in Alaska, to Disney World in Florida and even got to see the space shuttle lift off. They had 12 good years together when in 2002 Dorothy passed away. He then moved to Sagle, ID next to his daughter Sharon, so she could take care of him. He was in a wheel chair the last 5 years of his life, but he was still a strong yet gentle man, the pillar and anchor of his family. He is preceded in death by this father and mother, Ole and Rosa Brown, his wife Eleanor, companion Dorothy and 3 sisters, Adeline, Opal and Joyce. He is survived by his daughters Elaine Trom (Larry), Sharon Harris (Roger) and son Wayne Brown (Linda) and one sister Frances Colby, 4 grandchildren Rick Colby, Sherrie Martinez, Brenda Bush and Tom Harris, and 6 great grandchildren.
