Melvin Wilbur Potter, (84) passed away on July 9, 2008 at the Boundary Community Hospital in Bonners ferry, Idaho. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho with internment in the Grandview Cemetery.
Mel was born on March 28, 1924 to Leslie and Dorothy Potter living in Faulk County, South Dakota. He was educated in South Dakota’s public school system. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on a Destroyer escort in the Pacific. After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy he entered schooling in the Government Banking System. When he qualified, his area of employment was in the State of California, as a National Bank Examiner. Also he had several assignments to foreign countries.
In 1977 he married Rosaria Dexter. He retired and moved to Montana, living on acreage in the Curley Creek/ Old Hwy 2 area. During retirement years in the Troy area he enjoyed being a part of the Business Men’s Club and the Senior Center. Everyday in Montana was a “Bonus” to his life in so many ways. All aspects of outdoors were inspiring. He enjoyed being “on the go”, traveling, eating out, reading and gardening (rearranging) the Woods.
Preceding him in death were his parents Leslie and Dorothy Potter, brothers Delmar Potter, Donald Potter and Richard Potter.
Survivors include his wife Rosaria of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Sister Evelyn Fagg of Troy, Montana and numerous nieces and nephews.
