Arthur Marcotte passed away August 1, 2008 at the Boundary Community Hospital in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. A graveside service will be held August 7, 2008 at 11:00am at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, California.
Art was born August 17, 1924 in New Bedford, Massachusetts
to Arthur and Annie Marcotte. Art was a veteran of the Army in WWII where served as a military policeman in France for most of the war. He married Betty Arsenault on August 10, 1947; she preceded him in death in 1966. From the late 1950’s until 1972 he worked as a maintenance man for the Fremont School District in Fremont, CA. He then married Ida Basta in 1969. In 1972 he owned and operated a chain of Delicatessens in Sacramento, Haywood and Oakland, California. He was an astute businessman and continued operating his deli’s until the late 1990’s when he retired.
Art was known as “the Muffin Man” in Sandpoint and he lived his last years surrounded by family and loved ones. He was a member of the VFW.
Art is survived by his children, Rick Marcotte, Eileen Marcotte and Lea Quist; one brother Ray Marcotte; grandchildren, Danae, Katie, Christopher, Mathew and Solange and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his children’s mother, Betty Marcotte, and two brothers Armond and Francis Marcotte.
