Dorothy Alice Lamson went to her heavenly home on July 19. 2014 in the ECF wing of Boundary Community Hospital. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 2:00pm in the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home with interment in the Copeland Cemetery, Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
Dorothy was born in La Porte. Colorado on March 20,1924 to Ernest and Gladys (Clark) Strohmeyer
She had two sisters and five brothers Franklin. Paul, Carl, Edna, Lois, Phillip, and Ray Her father
worked for the railroad in Colorado and Wyoming, so the family moved around following his job
She graduated High School at age 16 in Garo, Colorado.
Dorothy married Hugh Lamson on December 29, 1946. They met while both were working at the
Gates Rubber Company in Denver, Colorado. They had four children; Linda Lee, Lois Lynn, Laurie
Lenee and Larry Hugh.
Linda was born in Denver in 1948. They worked on a ranch in the Rifle, Colorado area until they
moved to North Idaho in 1951 just before Lois was born. They traded their home North of the Mt Hall
School to Hugh’s parents for their farm in the Copeland area. They farmed the family ranch with Hugh
working other jobs. Laune and Larry were also born in Bonners Ferry. Dorothy always had a big
garden, raised chickens for eggs and meat. She churned her own butter, made her own homemade
cheese and don't forget the bread, cinnamon rolls and homemade noodles. She was the local
neighborhood barber cutting all of her grandson's, son m laws and several neighbor boys hair.
Dorothy was a local babysitter for many of the area children for several years.
For a surprise Dorothy made a cassette tape of her harmonica playing on her young granddaughter's
Fisher-Price tape player for a family trip. But a much bigger surprise came for the family when in her
75" year she contacted a local recording studio and recorded “Grandma Makin' Music” on CD and cassette. Dorothy was a self-taught harmonica player who played for her church, family friends and talent shows over the years.
Dorothy moved from her home m Copeland to the Oak Street Apartments in 1996 where she lived until
moving into the Community Restorium In 2011. She resided in the Restorium until July 15, 2014
when she became ill and was admitted to the ECF wing of the hospital.
Dorothy leaves behind Linda (Bob) Anderson, Gig Harbor, WA. Lois (Bob) Weakly, Bonners Ferry. ID,
Laune (Brad) Lowther, Bonners Ferry. ID and Larry Lamson, Portland. OR. She is also survived by 12
grandchildren. 14 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
her parents, 4 brothers. 1 sister and her husband of 42 years, Hugh.
She was a special part of all of our lives and will be missed by us all.
