Alva Earl Stanley loving husband, father and grandfather passed away October 27,2008 at his home after suffering a stroke.
Services will be held at the First Baptist church of Bonners Ferry on Oct 30th at ll:00am With grave side services to follow at the Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry.
Alva had been a resident of Boundary County since 1993. He had a deep love
for God ,family and the mountains in which he was blessed to live. He enjoyed watching the deer and wild turkeys from his home on the north bench. Hunting and fishing were a part of his life. One of his fondest memories was when he drew and bagged an Idaho bull moose.
He was born on October 5th 1917 to James and Gladys Stanley in Lockwood Ca. He attended Playto School in Lockwood and later moved to Cambrea, Ca
to attend high school. After finishing school he worked as a ranch hand /cowboy in the King City California area.
In 1946 he meet his bride of 62 years Winnie Louise Wells. They were married in Reno Nevada and made there home on the ranch in Bryson Ca. Where they raised their children Jim, Barbara Gordon, Bob and Carol Ann.
Alva worked for Hunter Liggett Military reservation as a heavy equipment operator during the1950's-60's he retired with 20yrs of Civil Service. His stories included those of many hours spent on his dozer fighting California wild firers.
In 1974 Alva and Winnie relocated to Albany Missouri where they farmed and lived until moving to Boundary County in 1993.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he faithfully attended. He saw a need in his life for the savior and accepted his free gift of salvation.
Alva is survived by his wife Winnie: Sons Gordon Stanley of Bonners Ferry, Jim Smith of Los Molinos California a daughter- in-law Marlene Stanley of Bonners Ferry. 7 Grandchild, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, children Barbara, Carol Ann, and Bob, four brothers. a daughter-in-law and a grandchild.
Dad and Grandpa you will be sadly missed but we know heavens splendor is now in your sights.
