Minister Edmund Joseph Justus (81) passed away at his home near Bonners Ferry on October 29, 2008. Funeral Services will be held on November 2, 2008 at 10:30am at the Mountain View Mennonite Church, Bonners Ferry, Idaho with interment following in the Mountain View Mennonite Cemetery.
Edmund Joseph Justus was born to Phillip and Eugenia Brockley Justus on January 2, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois. Dad passed away on October 29, 2008, at his home, reaching the age of 81.
Early in his life Eddie, with his family, moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He grew to manhood on the family farm enjoying many happy times working, hunting, and fishing with his brother Philip.
He met the lord and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, by Minister Ed Frank on December 5, 1945. This faith was precious to him all of his life.
Eddie was joined in marriage to Nettie Amoth on February 22, 1948. Their home was blessed with three sons and three daughters. God gave them more than fifty-six beautiful years together.
Dad's commitment to the lord and the Church led his family to believe with him, that giving their lives to the lord would lead to true peace and joy.
He was ordained to the gospel ministry on November 5, 1953, by Minister John A. Koehn. The ministry was the center of Dad's life, and he loved to share the gospel message with those he met.
Dad was a dairy farmer providing well for the needs of his family. He enjoyed all the aspects of nature, often relating to them in a spiritual way.
Mom passed away on December 7, 2004, leaving Dad very lonely. God provided another companion for him, and on November 13, 2005, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Harms Unruh, blending two families. They enjoyed nearly three years together, making many happy memories.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Phyllis; their children: Carol Isaac, Millersburg, Ohio; Richard and Sandra, Bonners Ferry, Idaho; Beth and Walt Giesbrecht; Charlie and Karen; Barb and John Unruh, all of Othello, Washington; David, Wasilla, Alaska; Marj Seaman Justus, Dumas, Arkansas; Roger and Jane Unruh, Paris, Texas; Gale and June Unruh, Fountain Run, Kentucky; Diane and Stanton Redger, Lakin, Kansas; Denise and Wayne Faircloth, Guntersville, Alabama; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Also left to cherish fond memories are his brother Phillip and three sisters-in-law: Marie Beauchamp, Eva Jantz, and Elsie and Norman Toews.
His wife Nettie, his parents, one son-in-law, and one great-grandchild preceded him in death.
