Bernard (Bernie) Ewald Heinemann

Bernard (Bernie) Ewald Heinemann a long time resident of Porthill Idaho, passed away May 22, 2015 at the Boundary County Restorium. Services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 12:00 noon at the Grandview Cemetery, Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Born May 26, 1926 in Lyons Nebraska to John and Caroline Heinemann, Bernie was one of 13 children. In 1957 after a two year term in the US Marine Corps, Bernie joined his brother Adolf and his family who were living in Porthill. In 1963 Bernie met the love of his life and wife of 50 years, Ethel June Aller Eskew. They married July 10, 1964 and subsequently raised 6 children together on their farm in Porthill. Bernie is survived by his loving wife June Heinemann, Son Daniel J Heinemann (Nida), Daughter Mona L. Nicholls (Mark) Son Ronald S. Heinemann (Marie), Daughter Lorena K Sayers (Raymond) and Son Roger W. Heinemann (Annabelle) Twelve Grandchildren; Kirsten L. Jenks Madden (Eddie Jr.), Dirinda Terry (Stephen), Deborah Kipf (Christopher), Jess Wardwell (Kristen), Justin K. Munkholm (Lindsay), Ryan T. Nicholls (Stephanie), Chad M. Nicholls, Derrick H. Heinemann, Kellee J. Quesada (Arnold), Malina J. Heinemann, Raymond J. Sayers Jr. and Aimee N. Sayers. Bernie is survived by his loving wife June Heinemann, Son Daniel J Heinemann (Nida), Daughter Mona L. Nicholls (Mark) Son Ronald S. Heinemann (Marie), Daughter Lorena K Sayers (Raymond) and Son Roger W. Heinemann (Annabelle) Twelve Grandchildren; Kirsten L. Jenks Madden (Eddie Jr.), Dirinda Terry (Stephen), Deborah Kipf (Christopher), Jess Wardwell (Kristen), Justin K. Munkholm (Lindsay), Ryan T. Nicholls (Stephanie), Chad M. Nicholls, Derrick H. Heinemann, Kellee J. Quesada (Arnold), Malina J. Heinemann, Raymond J. Sayers Jr. and Aimee N. Sayers. Five Great Grandchildren Brittany Crowell (Dustin), Tiffany Cutright, Ashley Kipf, Chance Madden and Cassie Madden and one Great, Great Granddaughter Augusta Mae Crowell. Bernie' s love for farming was always reflected in his work and the appearance of his fields and crops. Known for his sharp wit, he would always make you laugh. In his later years, after retiring from actively farming, he honed his woodworking skills. His craftsmanship can be viewed at the Boundary County Museum where his works are now on display for all to enjoy. Bernie was predeceased by his daughter Marjorie June Gray, and one granddaughter; Jeanette Heinemann. The family wish to extend our deepest gratitude to Kirsten Madden and Rena Sayers for their unwavering dedication to the care of Dad/Grandpa in the absence of those of us who live too far away. These two women have proven themselves to be angels in the care of both June and Bernie. Thank you ladies, from all of us. The family would also like to thank Dan for countless hours in regards to the financial and medical care of Dad. We would also like to thank the Staff and Management of the Boundary County Restorium, who were instrumental in the care during the last few months of Dads life.
