Clara G. Hewett (92) passed away at the Hewett House, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho on January 16, 2009. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 12:00 noon at the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home, Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Private interment will be in the Grandview
Cemetery, Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
Clara was born on April 24, 1916 in the Curley Creek Community near Moyie Springs, Idaho to Milton A and Katharine E. Peck. The Peck family included a son Mevin D. Peck. They lived a rural life in a small log house and worked long days. Clara attended the Curley Creek School, Bonners Ferry High School, Lewiston State Normal School and the University of Idaho in Moscow. She spent forty years as an elementary teacher in Boundary County and at Buckhorn, Cow Creek, Sheridan, Southside, Valley View, North Side and Evergreen schools. Clara married Robert W. (Bob) Hewett on June 27, 1947. They lived for many years on the Curley Creek Farm on which Clara was raised. Clara Retired in 1976 and she and Bob moved to Bonners Ferry in 1991. They were kept busy with community projec5ts, Their church, traveling, and pinochle at the Curley Creek Community Hall and the Senior Citizens Center in Bonners Ferry.
Survivors include a niece, Sue O’Neill and her husband Phil, of Troy, Montana, a niece Shirley Allenton and her husband Don, of Colville, Washington, nephew Ed Hewett and wife Ann of Abilene, Texas and several great nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hewett on July 13, 2002.
