Marva Kerby (87) passed away on March 5, 2009 at the Boundary County Nursing Home, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Private Arrangements will be held.
Marva McFarland Kerby, 87, of Bonners Ferry died Thursday, March 5, 2009, joining her loving parents and husband.
Marva was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Missoula, Mont., to Homer and Lillian Klatt McFarland.
Marva moved with her family to Bonners Ferry in 1927.
She attended grade school and high school in Bonners Ferry, where she was in the band and orchestra.
After high school, Marva attended University of Idaho, where she met her husband, C. Don Kerby. They were married for 59 years.
During World War II, Don served in the Army Air Corps. Marva worked at Garner Field Air Base as “Rosie the Riveter.”
She and Don moved back to Bonners Ferry in 1947 and started a dairy farm in District 15. The next year, they went through the flood of 1948.
Following the flood, Marva and Don formed a real estate and insurance partnership with Bob and Hazel Pace, which became known as the Pace-Kerby Agency.
Marva was active in the American Legion for 60 years, and was a charter member of Job’s daughters and Beta Sigma Phi. She served as Beta Sigma Phi’s first president.
Marva also belonged to the Book Club and Hospital Auxiliary and was past president of the Ladies’ Golf Association and an avid golfer.
She also was an avid bridge player.
Marva cherished her friends and enjoyed her four granddaughters, great-granddaughter and great-grandson.
Marva also is survived by sons Gary of Moyie Springs and Darrell and Jon, both of Bonners Ferry.
Marva was preceded in death by her husband.
At Marva’s request, there will not be a funeral service.
