Lester L Rate

Lester Rate (77) passed away in his home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho on May 19, 2009 after a fight with cancer. Burial will be in East Helena, Montana. Les was born on October 26, 1932 in Townsend, Montana. He served in the Korean War and was a prisoner of war. Les retired from UCSA, California in 1988. He loved a good game of pinochle, horse races, rodeo’s, football Sunday and whenever it was on. He loved working with his hands making things for his wife and children. In his younger days he loved to turn a mean horse into a tame horse that kids could ride. Les trained horses to bow and do tricks and be in parades. He also loved to hunt and fish. Survivors include his wife Janet of Bonners Ferry, ID, daughter Cindy Large and husband Ronnie of Bonners Ferry, ID, sons Lester Rate and wife Bonnie of Three Forks, MT, John Carl Rate and wife Cindy of Spirit Lakes, ID, Brother Charles Rate and wife Norma of Camp Verde, AZ, 8 grandchildren and 14, great-grandchildren.
