Alden (Buck) Bailey (80) passed away on July 19, 2009 at his home near Moyie Springs, Idaho. Private Services were held.
Alden was born on August 21, 1928 in Portland Oregon. He attended Oregon Tech School and studied refrigeration which served him valuable through out his years. In the early 1960’s he moved to Southeast Alaska and bought his 1st commercial salmon fishing boat. He always said the best way to catch fish is keep the gear in the water… and that he did for 45 years. Over the years each new boat got bigger with higher tech refrigeration. He eventually switched to fishing Albacore Tuna and had a fine 60 foot steel boat called the “NorWester”. He fished the North Pacific in the winter. In between there were boat repairs and maintenance, always making time for Idaho deer hunt and thanksgiving. He always came with a trunk full of flash frozen whole tuna to be canned and enjoyed by family.
He enjoyed sport fishing, hunting and trap shooting.
He is survived by friend and ex-wife Leigh Bailey of Morro Bay, California, son David Bailey and wife Mary Ann of Moyie Springs, ID; granddaughter Jessie Litterell and husband Josh of Moyie Springs, ID; grandson Greg Bailey and wife Katheryn of Portland, OR; and 6 great grandchildren.
