Elizabeth (Beth) Y. Ashton passed away peacefully at the Bonners Ferry, Restorium on November 25th, 2016. A Service will be held on December 23, 2016 at 11:00am in the United Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
Beth was born on July 18th, 1920 to Dr. and Mrs. F.B. Young in Osage Iowa. She lived in Waukee Iowa until high School graduation in 1937. She moved to Moscow Idaho to attend the University of Idaho where her uncle was a Professor in the English Department. She attended U of I while living with her uncle and grandmother.
It was at the University of Idaho, where she met Joe Allegretti, whom she would marry in 1941 in Columbus, Mississippi. Their first son, Tom was born in Belmar New Jersey. In 1945 they moved to St. Paul Minnesota where their second son Phil was born. They moved to the Chicago area in 1950. Four Years later, they moved to Laurel Mississippi, then back to LaGrange Illinois shortly after. In 1960 it was off to the West Coast - Burney, California for 2 years and then to Orange, California.
Joe died in 1968 and this is when Beth became a travel agent in La Habra California. She then opened her own travel agency (Let’s Go Travel) where she worked for 16 years. During this time, Beth traveled to 6 continents, 51 countries, and 47 states.
In 1972 she married Wes Ashton and they lived in Anaheim California until retirement when she moved to Naples, Idaho in 1984. Beth relished her retirement, living among the mountains and lakes and loved gardening, painting and enjoying her family. She was a member of Naples Helping Hands, PEO, Art Club, and the United Methodist Church.
After Wes died in 1997, Beth moved to Paradise Valley where she resided until she moved to the Restorium in March of this year.
Beth is survived by her sons: Tom Allegretti of Reno Nevada, and Phil (Janice) Allegretti of Naples Idaho. Granddaughters: Sarah (Anthony) Renaldi of Twin Falls Idaho and Lisa (Justin) McIntosh of Genesee Idaho. Great Grandchildren: Giana Elizabeth and Hudson Philip Renaldi. Lastly, her beloved dog, Roxy – currently living with her eldest son Tom.
