Jack David Yeoumans, Sr. (85) passed away on August 10, 2009 at the Boundary County Nursing home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 1:00 pm in the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho with private interment in the Grandview Cemetery.
Jack was born April 16, 1924 in Portland, Oregon and spent his younger years in Oregon. In 1939 his family moved to Bonners Ferry and farmed in District 5. Jack Graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1942. After attending the University of Idaho for a time, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy, spending time in Chicago, Boston, and Texas, eventually training recruits on 20 & 50 mm machine guns in Norfolk Virginia. While in the Navy, he met and married Edna Brown and together they made a home in Meadow Creek where they raised two sons and a daughter. Jack worked for the Spokane International Railroad (later Union Pacific) for 37 years retiring in 1986. He was active in the Knights of Pythias Lodge and Maintenance of Way Union. Jack enjoyed sports, particularly baseball and golf, teaching golf and coaching baseball for several years. Jack dearly loved his grandchildren and strived to give them the best in life. He loved family and was never happier than on Holidays when the entire family was together.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Edna, his parents Lee and Frances Yeoumans, and a brother, Earl. Jack is survived by two brothers, Tom and his wife Kris, Gary and his wife Lavonne, and a sister, Laura Lee and her husband Ron. Children Kenneth Yeoumans, Jack (Jake) Yeoumans and his wife Claudia, and Mary Collett, 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
