Harry ‘Rick’ Philbrook, 55 after a year long battle with cancer Rick fought until the bitter end. He took flight with the angels on 1/19/17 to join the ranks of those in heaven, with family at his side for the farewell. Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday June 10, 2017 at United Methodist Church, 6706 Denver St, Bonners Ferry. Born 6/11/61 in Boners Ferry, he was raised and graduated BFHS. He also graduated from NIC and BSU with degrees in Business Management. Rick was an entrepreneur, he relished seeing his visions grow to fruition. He put his heart and soul into creating and staring up new businesses. Rick also enjoyed his role as Project Manager in many talents such as wood treatment plant, apartment building, lumber mills, kiln operations, and his latest employment with Knife River was to keep busy in his spare time. Rick enlisted in US Marines from 1981-87 as an Avionics Communication System Tech. Memberships included Masonic Lodge and Shriners, and lifetime member of NRA and Idaho Fish & Game. Rick’s passion for fishing was unprecedented while at his cabin on Kootenay Lake, BC. He excelled in marksmanship, enjoyed hunting, jeeping, riding his Harley, cruising in his 67’ Camero and latest venture raising cows. He was most proud of his 3 children, raising them to love motorcycle racing, ice skating and hockey as much as he did. Rick is survived by the love of his life Rita, three amazing children Sarah, Katie and Nathan, precious grandson Hunter, Rita’s son Brent, faithful companion Jack, brother Matthew, and many friends he considered family. Rick preceded in death by parents Don and Betty. Heartfelt thanks and gratitude to his staff of caregivers, from Cancer Care Post Falls, where he was fondly known as ‘Harry call me Rick’, and Schneidmiller House, who took special care of him and his family during time of grief.
