Jim was born in Sandpoint Idaho to William (Bill) and Carol (Borg) Chubb on September 13th 1941.
Jim was an avid athlete graduating from Bonners Ferry High School in 1960. He spent 1 year at NIC transferring to U of I for 2 years.
He married his high school sweetheart Sandra Davis on the 28th of July 1962. Their daughter Carisa Holly was born in Moscow. Their son James Wayland born in Bonners Ferry. Melissa Mae was born in Great Falls, MT and finally Cara Marie born In Bonners Ferry, ID
After U of I he moved his family to Spokane WA where he worked a short time for Sneva Construction, The Crescent and then Sears Roebuck. While at Sears he took a Dale Carnegie course where he excelled and was asked to join the instructors on future classes. During one of those classes Jim was offered and accepted a job with Montgomery Ward in Great Falls Montana. While with Montgomery Ward Jim transferred to the buying office in Los Angeles, CA but the poor air quality and extensive travel necessitated a transfer back to Great Falls. A position opened in the Portland Oregon store where he managed six women’s fashion departments.
In 1974 Jim and his younger brother Marc partnered to open the Coast to Coast hardware store in downtown Bonners Ferry. Jim and Sandi eventually assumed ownership. He enjoyed serving his community until his retirement in 2002 at which time he developed a thriving tree farm in Moyie Springs. The farm provided opportunity for the family to work together.
The thrill of a life time for Jim was the fall of 2014 when he shot a 48” antler spread Moose with his son Jim at his side. He loved hunting and fishing, forming many lasting friendships and endearing memories.
Jim lovingly took care of his wife, children and grandchildren. He was the best Dad and to his grandchildren, Papa. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years Sandi, children Carisa (Mike) McAlister, Jim Chubb, Melissa (Ken) Riesen and Cara (Vern) Guenther. Grandchildren Kyle Cox, Kevin and Klarity Riesen.
