Verdun Trenton Lachance

Verdun Trenton La Chance (90) passed away on December 17, 2009 at the Boundary Community Hospital in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the Springs of Living Water Free Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Private burial was held in the Grandview Cemetery, Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Verdun was born on March 29, 1919 in Sebago Lake, Maine, son of Eldeliah Del Ciondelo and Alphonse La Chance. He lived a full life as a loving husband, loving father, entertainer, musician, teacher, minister and friend. He was an artist and cartoonist and he loved football and animals especially cats. He never met a stranger. He loved visiting with everyone he'd meet. He loved playing the guitar and banjo—and cataloged close to 2000 songs he could play by ear over the last 75 years up to now. Verdun had a jolly spirit;he loved to joke and give someone a laugh. He gave joy and a smile to all who knew him—there was also never a shortage of things he loved to share about. He was an avid historian as well and each place was “the best place he'd ever been." Among those places were his time serving overseas in World War II in Europe; and his moves to various places around the US. He lived in Seattle, WA as well as Oakland, Los Angeles and the high desert of Lucerne Valley, California. Later years brought the need to move closer to family in the Northwest; enjoying the view of Mt Rainier in Eatonville, Wa. He and Laura finally settled in Bonners Ferry enjoying more time with family. He leaves behind his wife Laura Jeanne; daughter Maureen Lange (husband Rob, grandsons Dietrich and his wife Rebekah, and grandson Stefan); his son Darryl (wife Linda, granddaughters Analisa and Rachael, grandsons Gian and Ricco) and daughter Coleen Trocke (husband James, grandson Christian and granddaughter Jessica). Verdun is now with the Lord, he believed in Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. His favorite scripture was John 3:16 “ For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life".
