Lila Mapes

Lila Mapes passed away on December 28, 2009 at the Bonner General Hospital in Sandpoint, Idaho. Lila Fae Heller-Mapes - was born April 14, 1919 to Charles Herbert Heller and Jennie (Victoria) Jones in Stavely, Alberta, Canada. Lila went back to be with our Lord on December 28, 2009.Services will be held in the spring so family and friends can attend. Lila was the second child out of the three children born to Charles & Victoria. George Leonard 1917-1920 and Verna LaVaughn Heller (Carter) born 1925. Lila's father, Charles was a farmer while living in Stavely, Alberta but then moved to the Panhandle of Idaho in 1923, where he logged and fished for a living. Lila was married to Raymond Stockdale, Roy Alexander and Dana A. Mapes. Lila had 6 children, Charles R. Stockdale 1937 (wife Patsy), B.F., Id., Lawrence A. Stockdale 1938-1939, Ann Marie Stockdale-Allen 1939-1999, (husband Richard), B.F., Id., Betty Jean Stockdale-Varney 1942 (husband Reid), Pocatello, Idaho, Duane Lee Stockdale 1949 (wife Jeannie), B.F., Id., and Eddie D. Mapes 1951-1970. Lila lived in various areas in the Idaho Panhandle, and in the Puget Sound area in Washington. Lila had worked as a housekeeper in nursing homes while living in the Coeur d'Alene area. In 1990 Lila moved to Bonners Ferry to be close to her children and grandchildren. Lila liked to visit and keep in touch with friends and family by visiting, calling or writing letters to them, she also loved to read and then later in her years she would listen to books on tape. Lila's favorite pass time was to crochet. Lila was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was preceded in death by her husbands and three of her children and several of her grandchildren. She is survived by her sister ; three children(Charles, Duane, Betty) and their spouses; her son in-law Richard Allen and 22 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 40 great-great-grandchildren.
