Arnold Darwin Pherson was 82, when he passed away at the Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on March 25, 2010. Services will be held on Friday, April 2, 2010 at 11:00am in the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Arnold was born on April 7, 1927, in Fresno, California, to Harold Arnold Pherson of New York, and Jennie Gillespie of California. Arnold served in the US Air force on active duty from September 22, 1944, to December 23, of 1944. Arnold then requested a transfer to the US Air Force Reserves (Merchant Marines) and was honorably discharged on April 14, 1947. Arnold retired from the Merchant Marines as a Chief Engineer. Arnold then went into the US Coast Guard, (Merchant Marines) until he was honorably discharged on February 4, 1981, at which time he retired to his home in Naples, Idaho. Arnold enjoyed being a certified Hamm Radio operator, as well as wood working, but his most favorite thing to do was go fishing. Arnold also helped his brother-in-law, Everett Virden whom owned a CB radio store, to form the H.E.A.R.T Club. (Highway Emergency Assistance Response Team) The club worked closely with the Sheriffs Department and the Search and Rescue teams when needed. Arnold had 3 sisters whom preceded him, Doris Bones deceased, Irene Lambert deceased, and Haroldine Virden whom is also deceased. Arnold never married but is survived by1 nephew and 2 nieces, Ronald Virden, Judy Musial, and Gloria Kjos. He is also survived by 3 great nephews, 5 great nieces, 4 great-great nephews, 5 great-great nieces, and 1 great great-great nephew, which was the very first infant that he had ever held in his lifetime.
