Betty Jane Galbraith passed away on May 12, 2010 at the Boundary County Nursing Home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 22, 2010 in the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho with interment following in the Grandview Cemetery. Betty was born on September 21,1925 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho on the Northside of town. She attended the local schools and graduated from Bonners Ferry High School with the class of 1944. After she graduated, she worked at various jobs in Spokane, Washington, Seattle, Washington, and at the Farragut Navel Training Station in Idaho. On January 17, 1947, she married Lee Robert Galbraith at the Methodist parsonage in Bonners Ferry, and they made their home in Porthill, Idaho where Lee was employed with the Cameron Lumber Company. They later moved to various areas including Richland, Washington, Kellogg, Idaho, Clarkfork, Idaho, and finally settled for good back in Bonners Ferry very close to the house she was born in. Betty and Lee were members of the Kootenai Kloggers Square Dance Club, and they loved to go camping, and traveling with friends. Betty worked at several businesses in Bonners Ferry, including the old Whiz-In Drive In, the Zip Trip, and spent quite a few years working at the Northside School Lunchroom. Betty also worked on the election board for quite a few years. She spent the last few years of her life living at the Bonners Ferry Restorium and most of the last year of her life at the Extended Care Unit of the hospital. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Opal and Hyrstal Tompkins, and three of her brothers, Hyrstal(Pudge)Tompkins, Eugene(Pidge)Tompkins, and William(Bill)Tompkins. She is survived by her sister, Virginia Lesmeister, in Spokane, Washington and her brother, Jim Tompkins(wife Patsy), in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She is also survived by her daughters, Linda Case of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Dorothy Rach of Libby, Montana, and her son, Stephen Galbraith of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Surviving nephews and nieces include Bob Tompkins of Portand, Oregon, Michael Tompkins of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Carol Stegner of Clarkston, Washington, Theresa Anderson of Anaheim, California, Judy Sandstrom and Sharon Mikesell, both of Spokane, Washington and Jerry Tompkins, Jon Tompkins, and Jimmy Tompkins, all living in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shellee Gillies, Trista LaBoucane, Tom Rach, Jacob Galbraith, Catherine Galbraith, Lance Galbraith and numerous great-grandchildren.
