Cora Shirley Mae Douglas (88) passed away July 14, 2010 at the Boundary County Nursing Home in Bonners Ferry. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 10:00a.m. in the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home Chapel in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Burial will follow in the Grandview Cemetery.
Cora was born May 8, 1922 to Perry and Jeannette (Marth) Stevens in Goldstone, Montana. She attended school and graduated high school in Boundary County. Cora married Myrl “Mike” Douglas on July 11, 1939 and Sandpoint, Idaho. Cora went on to further her education and attend Nursing School in Bonners Ferry. She graduated as an LPN and worked in all of the departments in the hospital from the emergency room to the floor and also delivering many, many babies.
Cora loved to garden and canned her rewards. Everything “had” to go in a jar; she always had to buy two of everything and therefore had to can even more!
She enjoyed fishing and camping, Cora could always out fish Mike!
Cora is survived by her son, Frank Douglas and his wife Margie of Edmonton, Alberta; daughter, Phyllis Nance and her husband Norman of Nelson, B.C.; five grandsons, numerous great grandchildren; one brother; one sister; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also, by her special friend Ed Bohlman.
Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Mike in 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and one sister.
