Robert Allen Raaum

Robert A. Raaum (71) passed away at his home near Copeland, Idaho on October 5, 2010. A Vigil Service will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 7:00pm in the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at St. Catholic Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho with interment in the Grandview Cemetery, Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Robert was born on February 6, 1939 in Ambrose, North Dakota to Hannah and Joseph Raaum. Bob was the sixth out of eight children. He attended school to the eighth grade in Elkabo, ND. He then went to work on the family farm along with his dad and brothers. They grew durum and barley. Robert married Katherine E. Rassier on November 26, 1960 in hanks, ND. They farmed until 1966 when they moved to Kellogg, ID. Robert worked at the Bunker Hill Mine. Robert and Kay moved their family to Prosser, WA in1968 and on to Walla Walla in1969. They moved to the Bonners Ferry area in 1970 to farm for Echarts and eventually Con and Dee Tucker. Robert began his own farm in 1976 in District 6. They moved the operation to their current home in Copeland in 1981 where he resided until his death. They raised cattle and sold hay and straw. He was also a boiler man at Crown Pacific lumber mill for several years in Bonners Ferry. Bob is survived by his wife, Katherine of 49 years, children Douglas of Annapolis, MD Roberta (Guy) Hatley of Big Timber, MT, Duane (Teresa) of Bonners Ferry, Dennis (Mendy) of Bonners Ferry, Lonnie (Jennifer)of Coeur d’Alene, ID and Kimberly (Dan) Williams of Bonners Ferry. Grandchildren Savannah (Raaum) Martin, Heather (Hatley) Jenkins, Sierra Raaum, Jessica (Hatley) Sperber, Seth Haley, Nicholas Raaum, Tori Raaum, Kourtney Raaum, Cameron Raaum, Danielle Raaum, Zachary Raaum, Alison Williams, Danny Williams, Jessica Leonard and Brigitte Limeburg. Robert is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, one brother Dale of Fortuna, ND, Sisters Aileen Albertson of Seward, AK, Sandra Landrum of Williston, ND, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gerald and Floyd, sisters Leona, Lorna and grandson Jake Limeburg.
