Jessie Rowland Ellis

Jessie Rowland Ellis passed away on Nov. 16, 2010 in Post Falls, Idaho at 95 years old. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 22, 2010 at 1:00pm in the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho with interment in the Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Jessie was born to Fred and Lenna Ellis in Farmington, Wash. on July 14, 1915. When Jessie was four, he moved with his parents to Bonners Ferry, Idaho where he attended school. After graduating, Jessie worked for the U.S. Forrest Service until joining the U.S. Navy. He served in both World War II and the Korean War. On March 31, 1945 he married Ada Luke in San Diego. He and Ada were married until she passed away in November, 1972. In 1946 Jessie and Ada moved to Bremerton, Wash. After serving his country, he worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He worked in the shipyard until retiring in 1971. Even after retirement, Jessie worked in construction for many years and stayed active right up until last year. In 1973, he met Lela Fox, who he married Jan. 12, 1979. Soon after their marriage, Jessie and Lela moved to Bonners Ferry, where they resided until Lela’s passing in February 2001. Jessie moved to Kootenai County with his son, Fred, and daughter-in-law, Jeanne until his passing. Jessie was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lenna, his brothers, Bill and Lee, his wives Ada and Lela, his step-daughter, Paula, his step-son, Ralph, and three grandchildren. Jessie is survived by his two daughters, Ada Mae Wheeler of Ford, Wash., and Alma Louise Midkif of Browning, Missouri, two sons, Fred Ellis of Post Falls and Don Fox of Bonners Ferry, son-in-law Stan Johnson of Bonners Ferry, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Jessie was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed by all.
