Garniel (Garry) Roberta Lindquist Huffman entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 26th at the age of 89, as a resident of the Boundary County ECF.
Garry was born in Salem, Oregon to Petros and Charlott Lindquist, and subsequently moved to the Tacoma, Washington area where she went to school, graduating from Stadium High School. Garry enjoyed participation in glee and gymnastic clubs. She worked as a nursing assistant for many years in area hospitals, ending her working career at the Boundary County ECF in Bonner's Ferry.
She met Roscoe Huffman in Tacoma, and they were married on January 20th, 1940, enjoying 50 years together before his passing in 1990. They lived in the Tacoma area while raising their family, moving to Bonner's Ferry, Idaho after Rocky's retirement. They very much enjoyed living in the rural community where Rocky had family roots. They moved back to the Tacoma area during Rocky's final illness, and while Garry loved the ocean and the feel of salt air, she desired to move back to Bonner's Ferry after his passing where she had so many friends and family. She greatly loved the mountains of the Idaho panhandle and the wonderful community of Bonner's Ferry.
Garry was preceded in death by her parents, sister Linda Guiles and brother Arven Lindquist, her husband, Rocky, and infant daughter Julia.
She is lovingly missed by her two sons, Roy (Marsha) of Longmont, Colorado and Mike of Tacoma, Washington. Also surviving her are 4 grandchildren, Troy (Melissa) Scott of Libby, Montana, Ken (Erin) Huffman of Longmont, Colorado, Stephen (Carrie) Huffman of Tallahassee, Florida and Rebekah Huffman of Longmont, Colorado, of whom she was very proud. Also a great source of joy to her was her 9 great grandchildren, as babies were always very special to her.
She always wanted to see the new babes of friends and attendants who cared for her. She is mourned by nieces, nephews, and many, many friends, leaving a legacy of kindness and caring.
Cremation has been entrusted to Bonners Ferry Funeral Home. Memorial gifts can be made to Boundary County Nursing Home.
