Bud Hutchens passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 23, with his family and faithful dog at his side. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, December 2,2006 at 3:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
Bud was born in Peoria, Illinois on February 9, 1932 to Floyd and Gretchen Hutchens. He graduated from Woodruff High School in Peoria in 1949 and married his highschool sweetheart, Doris Gaffney in 1950. Bud and Dori had two children, Paula and Phil and recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.
Bud joined the Airforce Reserve, then served two years with the U.S. Army in Korea. After his time in the service he became a manufacturing Engineer with Caterpillar Tractor and then Ingersoll Milling Machine Company in Rockford Illinois. Throughout his life he traveled all over the U.S., Europe, South America and Canada for his job.
After retirement Bud and Dori moved to Northern Idaho to be near their daughter Paula and her husband Jerry Howell and their grandsons, Jake and Jordan Howell. Their son Phil Hutchens and his wife Lisa, and their granddaughter Carly and their grandson Cole, reside in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Bud's brother Don Hutchens and his wife Shirley and their family live in Metamora, Illinois.
Bud enjoyed being active in his community and church. He was on the board and an active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, and he served as a commissioner for South Boundary Fire Protection District, until he became ill.
Bud was a good and faithful man who loved his family, his God and his country.
Graveside services will be at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the family at HCR-01 Box 220A Naples, Idaho 83847 to be sent to his favorite charities.
