Hazel Miller passed away February 17, 2007, at Boundary Community Nursing Home after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home on Saturday, February 24 at 11:00 a.m.
She was 82. Hazel was born in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, in Becker County, on February 23, 1924, to Roy and Clara Halverson. She married Peder Miller on February 23, 1941, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. They had two sons, Donald L. and Roger A. Miller.
They moved to Boundary County in 1944, where they resided until 1956 on a ranch near Addy. They moved into Bonners Ferry after selling the ranch, then moved to Coeur d'Alene for one year. From there they moved to Issaquah, Washington until 1984, returning to Bonners Ferry after Hazel retired from Boeing with 25 years service.
Hazel was an avid gardener and loved to work by the hours in her garden and flower beds. People will remember her winning many ribbons at the county fair for her beautiful dahlias. Up until a few years ago she enjoyed making lawn and garden ornaments out of wood and painting them. She was always being told that she had the most beautiful garden in town. She fished, logged and farmed along side her husband throughout their marriage.
Hazel leaves behind her son Donald and Wife Barbara Miller of Mill Creek, Washington, and Roger and Wife Sherri Miller of Moyie Springs, Idaho. Her sisters Marian Vandenberg of Bonners Ferry, ID, Ethel Malvick, Gladys Mitchell of Detroit Lakes and Florence Perrine of Frazee, Mn.
Her five grandchildren, Mike, Mark and Janet, Tia Lisa and Jonothan, and three step grandchildren, Shannon, Tony and Nancy.
There are also eight great grandchildren, Tiffany, Kimberly, Amber, Sami, Nick, Lexi, Katlyn, and Draeden, and five step great grandchildren, Cody, Jordan, Gabriel, Nicholas, and Hannah.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Peder Miller, parents, her brother Raymond and sister Mabel.
