Anna May (Price) Spalding (85) passed away peacefully on August 27, 2023 with her daughters by her side. Anna May was born to the proud parents of Basil and Josephine Price on June 10, 1938 in Moyie Springs at the railroad bunkhouse, as her mother could not wait to make it to town. She attended the Buckhorn school, but to be able to attend the Bonners Ferry High School she needed to move to town as going back and forth each day was not an option back then. She worked at the downtown bakery before and after school to pay for her room and board which she shared with JoAnn Neumayer. It is there that she met the love of her life, Frank Spalding. They married on March 2, 1958 and enjoyed 55 wonderful years together. They had three daughters Jodie, Debbie and Heidi. They built on the outskirts of downtown, building their own house which eventually became what we call the South Hill.
Anna May treasured being a wife, mother and homemaker. She also worked at Pink Lion, The Hobby Shop and Sears where she enjoyed meeting new people. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and bonded with her church family throughout her lifetime. Anna May was passionate about the outdoors enjoying gardening, hiking, huckleberry picking and camping. She and Frank were original members of the Bonners Ferry Boat Club and instrumental in the development of Smoky Acres. She and Frank also had a love of the coast and spent many vacations in Oregon and Washington with her family. In later life they went to Alaska every summer for many years to visit with Debbie, Ron and many family members. They had a deep love for the state and enjoyed all it had to offer. Anna May also loved walking, she and a dear friend, Lois Litalien walked the South Hill for 25 years together rain or shine, they even did an article in the Herald about them!
Anna May is preceded in death by her parents Basil and Josephine, her husband Frank and daughter Debbie. Brothers Russel, Jack and Jim (Wimp) and her beloved sister Joan. She is survived by her daughters, Jodie (Jeff) Neumayer, Heidi (Bobby) Invernon and son in law Ron Atwood. Grandchildren Aaron Neumayer, Benjamin Neumayer, Rachel (Landon) Weichal, Chase Invernon, Emily Invernon. Great grandchildren, Avery, Elliot, Andrew, Everett, and Abel Weichal. And numerous nieces and nephews.
