Billy Wayne Gorman, 90, passed away on February 8, 2023, in Bonners Ferry Idaho.

Bill is survived by his wife of 72 years, Earnestine Gorman and a son, David Gorman, and wife Stacy. Grandchildren Joshua and wife Mattie; Ryan and wife Kaite; Nathan and wife Amanda; Erin and husband Gavin; Matthew and Isaac. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Elijah, Gideon, Hezekiah, Judah, Lenora, Edith, Clara, Griffin, Hadley, Sabrina, Anna, Daniel, Andrew, Esther, Emma, and Asa. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Libby, son James Wayne Gorman, and great-granddaughter Lillian Marie Gorman.

Bill was born March 17, 1932, in Las Cruces, NM to Jack and Libby Gorman. At an early age his family moved to Novice, Texas where he excelled in baseball, basketball, 6-man football, hunting, fishing, creating mischief and chasing Earnestine (whom he eventually caught). After graduating high school, Bill served in the Texas National Guard and began working in a lumber yard. His career in the lumber industry was soon disrupted when Uncle Sam ordered him to service in the US ARMY in 1953. He took basic training at Ft Bliss and was assigned to the 90 th Ord. Field Maintenance Co at White Sands Proving Grounds, NM. He graduated from the ARMY Logistics School at Fort Lee, Va., and numerous other supply and safety schools.

After exiting the ARMY, Bill began work as a US ARMY Civilian at White Sands Proving Grounds. He was Chief of Storage Management Branch for the last twenty years of his employment at WSMR, served as an E.E.O. counselor, and as a volunteer for numerous other charitable organizations as well. Bill coached the Little League Loma Heights Dodgers baseball team for several years.

Bill came to know Jesus Christ and began serving the Lord faithfully through First Baptist Church, Las Cruces in various capacities. He taught 3 rd and 4 th grade Sunday school for 40 years, served as a deacon, cooked for the men’s prayer breakfast, and served in many other capacities. He was a member of Gideons International where he helped distribute bibles to hotels and to students at NMSU.

Bill enjoyed the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, grandsons, and friends. He enjoyed the fellowship of his family and church family. With his infectious, outgoing personality, he made friends wherever he went.

A Celebration of Bill’s life will take place on March 15 th at 11: 00 am at First Baptist Church in Las Cruces, NM. The memorial will be viewable online in Bonners Ferry, ID, at 528 Scenic Drive at 10:00 am local time.
