We are saddened to announce the passing of Dora M. Brown on April 5th at the Boundary County Extended Care Facility. She was 86 years old. Dora was born in Rocky Ford, Colorado, the oldest of four children born to Ochard and Sylvia Watson. When she was a child the family moved to Pleasanton, California where Dora attended school. This is where she met Doyle (Gene) Brown and they were married in 1953. They moved to Los Angeles and had three children, Mary, Brenda, and Paul. While taking a vacation to Alaska in 1964, they fell in love with Bonners Ferry and bought a home and acreage there. Monies were tight so Dora went to work in town to help with finances. She worked at Lou Ella’s Ice Cream Shop, then went to the IGA/Bargain Giant, and then worked at the Bonners Ferry High School as a cook. After many years at the high school, she left to manage the Pink Lion, from where she retired. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and other crafting activities, craft fairs, and playing cards. She was a very caring and loved working with people around the community.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years—Doyle, living in Paradise Valley, her two daughters—Mary George (Genesee) and Brenda Hill (Spokane), sister Stella Zaro, brothers Frank and Jim, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul, and her parents.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made to Boundary County Hospital where she as given excellent care.
