Gaylord Eugene Dirks

On the afternoon of September 29, 2022, Gaylord Eugene Dirks, 82, was called home for the final time. Gaylord was born to John and Edna Dirks March 31, 1940, Bonners Ferry, Idaho. A lifelong resident of Bonners Ferry dad was always proud of his heritage and community he lived, worked, and was part of. A man of so many skills and talents he worked hard in various construction trades as a heavy equipment operator, logging endeavors, and so many others, he also proudly served in the Army National Guard. There was not too much He could not master or accomplish. Operating equipment, welding, fabrication, repair, design, beat with a hammer, his skills were legendary, well, legendary to those who knew him and called him dad, husband, grandpa, friend. Gaylord was truly larger than life.

Above all else dad was a loving companion to his soulmate of almost 50 years, Mary Ella Dirks, and an equally loving father to his five children: Russell Dirks, Post Falls, ID., Jess Dirks, The Dalles, OR., Sue Dirks (Worman), Hayden, ID., Stevie Dirks, Hayden, ID., Michael Dirks, Athol, ID. Gaylord was also blessed with 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who he loved and cherished very much. Additionally, dad was blessed with the love of his siblings, Donald Dirks, Twyla Dirks (Cope), John Dirks and many cousins. Dad is preceded in death by the love of his life Mary, and Parents John and Edna.

A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Gaylords life October 22, 2022, 10:00 AM at the Boundary County Fairgrounds Hall, Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
