Geraldine Fay Roady, 90, of Bonners Ferry, passed away on Thursday September 3, 2020 while residing at Sunset Home Assisted Living. Services will be held at 11am Saturday September 19, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Bonners Ferry at 6711 El Paso Street. Geraldine “Gerry” was born June 25, 1930 in Winthrop Maine to Melvin A. and Eula A. (Roberts) Rushing. Gerry grew up in southern Illinois, going to school in her elementary years in Ava and later to high school in Alton, graduating in 1948. Following high school, Gerry enrolled in nursing school at St. Luke’s University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, where she graduated as a registered nurse in 1950. Gerry worked over the course of her career as a surgical and emergency room nurse at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and at Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle, Indiana. Gerry married William ”Bill” Roady on September 14, 1951 in Alton, Illinois. Bill and Gerry had two sons Charles “Chuck” (1953) and Rick (1958). They lived and worked enjoying life on their farm in Putnam County, Indiana for nearly 60 years until moving in October 2016 to Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Gerry is survived by her sons, Chuck and wife Gayla of Bonners Ferry and Rick of Clearwater, Kansas, grandsons Ryan (Laura) of Bonners Ferry and Tyler (Amber) of Harrison, Idaho, and four great-grandchildren Claire, Emma, Weston, and Owen. She is also survived by six nieces and nephews Tom, Martha, John, Susie, John Michael, Sabrina and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Bill of almost 68 years on February 8, 2019 and three sister and brother-in-laws Marge & Bill Pohlman, Delores & Mike Brugman, and Rose & Doug Shelton.
