Glendle Ferdinand “Sonny” Munier.of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, the bravest man I know, passed away on June 4, 2020. Services to be announced. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 33 years, Connie DeCoe-Munier, virtually by his step-daughter Michi and husband Chris, and a friend. He is also survived by his daughters Angel and Michelle, son Cordell and former wife Julia, and stepson Jon and wife Cindy; grandchildren Dakota, Angel’s son, Jacob and Russell, Cordell & Julia’s sons; Max and Meghan, Jon and Cindy’s son and daughter. Sonny is also survived by his sisters Ercell and Marlie and their families of many nieces and nephews all of O’Fallon, Il. Nephews Brad and Bruce Noren and their families of Ironwood, MI. Sonny was preceded in death by his sister Shirley, and grandson Luke. He was born in O’Fallon, Il in August of 1939. He went to St Clare Catholic School and O’Fallon Township High School. He was a voracious reader and quite a pique assiette artist, selling his art in Ferndale, CA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting and his beloved Idaho. Sonny served in the United States Navy as a Seaman from March 1959 through October 1961 and was honorably discharged October 1963 having served two years in reserves. Sonny trained race horses; appaloosas, quarter horses, thoroughbreds. He was leading trainer in the United States in1978. He enjoyed training and even after retirement kept up with the industry. Sonny will be cremated then interred in Sacramento, CA. Instead of flowers, Sonny would hope that you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for some poor unfortunate soul in his name. A memorial luncheon in Sonny’s honor is being planned on June 4, 2021 in Sacramento, CA following California’s COVID 19 restrictions. In the meantime, Connie would like each an everyone of you who knew Sonny and even those who didn’t know him, to hold up a glass of your favorite beverage and make a toast to one of the good ones!
