Karen Ann Walthall

Karen Walthall, 83, died Tuesday October 15, 2024 of natural causes. Karen was born January 28, 1941 in Billings, Montana to Cecil Akers and Olive Cartwright.

Karen married Avon Walthall November 1, 1957 and the two were blessed with five children. She is survived by her five children: Shirley Walthall of Powell, Wyoming, Billy Walthall of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Eugene, Debbie and Travis Walthall of Meridian, Idaho. Karen was also blessed with seven grandchildren, Sarah and Ryan Beard, Lindsay Hutt, Edward, Lexie, Emily, and Annabelle Walthall and four great grandchildren, Noah, Crew and Chloe Beard and Amir Ali. She was preceded in death by Avon Walthall of Thermopolis, Wyoming, grandson David Tritt of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and longtime partner John Dawson of Powell, Wyoming.

Karen was an avid reader, who also loved writing nonfiction stories about family and friends. She loved living off the grid in her mountain paradise and was very fond of her many friends at the Sandpoint Senior Citizen Center. Karen was always cheery and if you ever chatted with her, you undoubtedly heard the phrase “Jiminy Christmas.
