Betty Ehrmantrout passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at the Boundary County Extended Care Facility in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.  She was 89 years old.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 25, 2019, at 11:00, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bonners Ferry.  Interment will follow at the Grandview Cemetery.       Betty was born in Bonners Ferry on June 19, 1930, to Dave and Alice Tritt. She grew up on the South Hill and had many memories of neighborhood friends. She had numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who played an important part in her life which created long lasting memories. Betty graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1949.        In 1949 Betty began working at Cook’s Electric as a bookkeeper. She married Gene on May 17,1953, and they were together for 66 years.  When they started to raise their family, Betty left Cook’s Electric to be at home.  They had three children: David (Carol) Ehrmantrout, Julie (Tim) Dillin, and Jeannie (Rick) Alonzo.       Betty spent many hours sewing Barbie and baby doll clothes for her daughters and the neighborhood children.  She enjoyed the time in her kitchen canning, cooking, and baking. She walked the neighborhood many years to collect money for the March of Dimes. She was an active member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and St. Rose’s Guild.  In 1973, Betty went to work for Boundary County School District and became known as the “Lunch Lady”.  She enjoyed interacting with the students while punching their lunch tickets. She worked there for 22 years.       After retirement, Betty volunteered to do hair at the Boundary County Restorium, worked on elections, and began sewing quilts. She loved to sit on her deck and read or knit dish rags while looking out on her backyard where she was raised.       Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jim Tritt, and husband Gene.  She is survived by her brother in law Milo Ehrmantrout, her three children and their spouses, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  She loved her family, and her gentle soul was a precious gift to all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Ann’s Catholic Church or Wishing Star Foundation.
