Misty Suzanna Mazza Olsen our beloved mother, nanny, sister, aunt and friend, Misty Suzanna Mazza Olsen, passed quickly and peacefully from this life on the evening of June 30, 2023. She was surrounded by her family and had been ministered to by many friends and the wonderful doctors and nurses at Boundary Community Hospital preceding her death. Misty Suzanna Mazza was born in Deer Lodge, Montana to Sherman and Dorlene Mazza on August 11, 1961. She was the youngest of their three children, and was immediately adored by her older sister. She spent her younger years in Montana surrounded by family and friends.

Misty loved her time on the ranch with her maternal grandfather Walter and her grandmother Virginia, who was affectionately called Nan. She could be found riding horses with her mother, siblings and grandparents and learning at Nan's knee. She also enjoyed spending time with her paternal grandparents Ernest and Dorothy, known as Grandpa Nattie and Grandma Dot, fishing, playing the piano and eating wonderful food. Misty was a very spirited girl and enjoyed many activities throughout her life. As a youth she danced, did gymnastics and could always be found with a cat, or even a litter of rescued cats, which she would soon learn were actually skunks! She was not well pleased when her dad and brother had to step in and remedy the situation. In 1973 the Mazza family relocated to Soda Springs, Idaho for her father's job.

Always very social, Misty made many friends during her years in Soda and kept in touch with many over the years. It was while living in Soda Springs that the Mazza family converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, of which she was a lifelong member. After graduating in 1979 she moved to Pocatello, Idaho to attend cosmetology school at Idaho State University. Misty married Dennis Ray Olsen in the Idaho Falls temple on August 21, 1981 and through this relationship, fulfilled her greatest calling in life; that of being a mother and a grandmother. The Olsen family relocated to Utah so that Dennis could attend Brigham Young University and eventually settled in Logan.

In August 1982 their first child Tiffany was born, followed closely by Ginny, Dennis, Seth and eventually Lindsay, completing the family in January 1988. While in Utah many more friends were made which became more like family. While raising her family, Misty could also be found sharing her many talents with those around her. She often cut and permed hair, sewed clothes, quilted, tole painted, taught classes, and made many, many crafts to sell and gift. Her most prolific talent was the “gift of gab”, of which everyone who knew her would agree. She had a true gift for talking but nobody left a conversation with her without a good laugh and a boost in morale.

Dennis and Misty eventually divorced and Misty moved back to Idaho, later settling in Bonners Ferry where she worked for many years at Kootenai Valley Tax for her Son-In-Law, Kip Hartman. Once again, she made many lifelong friends and shared her myriad of talents with those around her. As much as she loved being a mother, her passion in life was being a grandmother.

In honor of her Grandma Nan, she chose to be called Nanny by her grand-kids. Nanny always supported her grand-kids, making their blessing outfits, receiving blankets, quilts, sending cards with heartfelt messages for birthdays, texting and calling just to catch up, making handmade gifts and showing up to any events she could. She was a kid at heart and loved to play Legos and Barbies, host American Girl doll parties and tell bad jokes with the kids. She had her own special relationship with each and every one of her grandchildren.

Misty is survived by her five children; Tiffany Suzanna Fisch (Craig), Ginny Elizabeth Hartman (Kip), Dennis LeGrand Olsen (Brittany), Seth W. Olsen, Lindsay Jane Hansen (Andrew), her eighteen grandchildren and her siblings Sherlene Marie Kirby (Kal) and Douglas James Mazza (Suzanne). She was preceded in death by her parents.08/11/1961
