Phillis Elizabeth Wilkerson

Wilkerson, Phyllis Elizabeth (Age 95). Born June 12, 1925 in Chicago Illinois to Edward and Kathryn Sayler. Went to be with our Lord on February 16, 2021. She is survived by her daughter Diana Thew (Daniel), and son Wayne Wilkerson (Wanda); grandchildren Jason (Mikayla), Jody (Emily); great-grandchildren Brady, Willow and Wren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, brother Stan and grandson Joshua Wilkerson. She went to high school in Alabama and Yankton South Dakota, She graduated from Yankton College magna cum laude in 1947.While working in Salt Lake City Utah, met husband Bill during a group trip to green river resort in the mountains. He proposed to her at top of a ferris wheel. Married 4/12/1950. Settled in Cheney WA where Bill was offered a geology professor position at EWSC.She pursued graduate studies untilthey decided to adopt children. She taught grade school, been a realtor, and secretary at EWU. Member of Beta and then PEO. Played the piano, and church organ beautifully (thought about majoring in music). Enjoyed ice skating, snow skiing, motor cycle riding, RV’ing, camping, boating (vacation place in LaConner WA), opera, attending plays, musicals, traveling (Europe, US; including Hawaii/Alaska), loved history, swimming, and an avid reader. She was very grateful for family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be delayed until we can gather together.
