Regina Marie Unruh was born on November 3, 1933, at Copeland, Kansas, to Edward B. and Minnie (Unruh) Unruh. She peacefully passed away at Sunset Home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, on August 16, 2020, reaching the age of eighty-six years. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 11:00 am in the Woodland Mennonite Church in Bonners ferry, Idaho. Burial will follow in the Woodland Mennonite Cemetery. In 1940, at the age of six, she moved with her family to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, leaving the Dust Bowl years of Kansas behind. Her formal education started at the Moyie School and after consolidation she went to Sheridan School. At the age of fourteen, she felt God calling her and she gave her heart to Him. On January 5, 1947, she was baptized into The Church of God in Christ, Mennonite by Minister Herman Mininger. She was faithful to her vows until the end. Regina had a very full life. In 1967 she graduated from LPN classes in Bonners Ferry, becoming a licensed practical nurse. She worked at Grace Nursing Home in California until she needed to return home to Idaho to care for her father who had become disabled after suffering a stroke. She also cared for her mother when she had cancer. We as a family remember asking her advice on medical issues and when we needed her, she was always there. Being a born problem solver and caregiver, she gave forty years to the medical field. For many years she served at the Boundary Community Hospital in Bonners Ferry. Being a very industrious lady, Reginia found time after work for tending her beautiful flowers and garden, and for putting away food for the winter. She loved to cook for friends and family and we remember her beautifully set tables and the delicious meals she provided. In the fall of 2017 she moved into Sunset Home for the winter, but it ended being long term. She was a bright spot there, endearing herself to the nurses and those around her. As her family we appreciate very much the loving care she received at the Home. Left with precious memories are one brother, Leonard and Ruth Unruh, Grafton, North Dakota, and one sister-in-law, Annie, Mrs. Ray Smith from Ingalls, Kansas, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant twin brother, Reginald, and five brothers and four sisters.
