Rosalie Hatfield

Rosalie Hatfield of Council bluffs, IA went to her heavenly home Wednesday December 2, 2020 two days before her 87th birthday. Rosalie Hatfield was born to James and Alta (Rogers) Rose on December 4, 1933 in Aline, OK. Rosalie grew up on an acreage in northwest Oklahoma with her 13 brothers and sisters. She was determined to complete her education. Often walking or riding a horse to get to school, she finished high school and worked many different jobs to pay her way through college. In 1957 she graduated from Bethany Nazarene College with an art major and an emphasis in teaching. After working for a short time she went with a friend to Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, ID to complete the courses needed to become a Home Economics teacher. In 1960 she found a teaching position in Bonners Ferry, ID where she taught for four years. There she met Lynn Hatfield at the Free Methodist Church. A ride to church soon turned into a Sunday afternoon activity. Lynn and Rosalie were married December 24th, 1961. She instantly became a part of the Hatfield family, for Lynn had three daughters: Maryln (Roy) Mastre, Karen and Lynda. Two more children were born to this union, Allen and Brenda. At a young age Rosalie heard Bible stories on the radio and became hungry for the word. She attended church whenever she had the opportunity and was saved as a young teenager. She continued throughout her life to study the word and follow the Lord; it was her utmost priority. Rosalie was an avid seamstress, often making clothes and special gifts for the family. While raising her children, Rosalie worked odd jobs such as selling tupperware, cleaning houses and businesses, and sometimes helping with a newspaper route. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, picking huckleberries, outings to a local creek, cooking and baking, however her love was painting. She would take pictures on outings and then come home and paint. She took art classes from a local artist as often as she could. She moved to Iowa 10 years ago to be near her children, so they could care for her needs. However she truly missed her beloved Idaho. For many years now, to share her love she knitted dish rags for family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lynn, son-in-laws David Bergmann and Roy Mastre, step-daughter Karen Nelson, granddaughter Hannah Bergmann and 10 of her brothers and sisters. Those who are left to cherish her memory are her children Allen (Linda) Hatfield of Silver City, IA, Brenda Bergmann of Aurora, NE, step daughters Maryln Mastre and Lynda (LeRoy) Dowd, step son Ed Nelson all of Bonners Ferry. Grandchildren: Ethan Bergmann, Dalynn, Rolena, Brittany, and Kadynn Hatfield, Rick & Cindy Mastre, Rhonda Seaman, Renee & Jim Dyck, Gus & Sharon Mastre, Rolonda & Dalton Unruh, Frank & Heidi Mastre, John & Paula Nelson, Del & Tara Nelson, Bill & Kris Nelson, Lisa & Gilbert Unruh, Laroy & Vicki Dowd, and Larry & Shelly Dowd, 57 great-grandchildren and 72 great-great-grandchildren. Three siblings: Corine Ross, Roger Rose, and Betty Bowman. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
