Viola Gedeon, 97 of Bonners Ferry, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on April 16, 2025.

She was born in Leipzig Germany on June 22, 1927 to Karl and Martha Buhle. Viola grew up during the turbulent years of WWII. She married Walter Gedeon in 1950 and they both were excited to start a new life when they came to the United States in 1951.

Viola and Walter were blessed with one child, a son, Dennis, and they both made sure that their son received the best love and affection that they could give.

Viola moved to Bonners Ferry in 2017 from New Jersey at age 91 to be closer to her son and his wife Randi. She made a host of friends and enjoyed visiting whether at a weekly coffee klatch, going to the casino, or just a casual drive. She enjoyed the sunshine, working in the yard, and loved America. Viola considered her friends Ute, Chris, Keli, Teresa and Denise as part of the family and treasured their companionship.

Her most precious activity was being a grandparent. She loved doing things for granddaughter Michelle (husband Dwayne) and grandson Daniel (wife Kimberly). She was blessed with great grandchildren Trent, Breana, Destiny, Joseph, Serenity and newest addition Sophia. She was additionally blessed to be a great-great grandmother to Emersyn and Asher.

Viola had a great love for her furry friends, “grandson” Woof Woof and her cat Morris who gave great comfort especially towards the end.

She was preceded in death by former husband Walter, life partner Charles Angerstein, parents and siblings.

Rosary will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday April 23rd at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 6712 El Paso Street with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest in Grandview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Better Together Animal Alliance, 870 Kootenai Cutoff Rd, Ponderay, ID 83852.
